With the way of the world at the moment it’s understandable that sticking to a strict budget is a key part of any bathroom renovation. Adding to this further it is unlikely that the average person will change their bathroom each time a new trench comes along. Therefore, we have curated a list of items that we think would work in almost any bathroom and a list of ways you can keep your bathroom timeless/easy and cost-effective ways to change it when you feel like a little change.
Langton vanity

With the elements vanity you have the option of choosing a floor standing or a wall hung unit. A Floor standing unit gives you additional storage. Although this is a handless unit you do have the option to add a handle for ease or décor purposes.
Matt units look a little more expensive than gloss, are slightly easier to keep clean and fresh are will not date as quickly. Choosing a neutral colour like white would work well but if you wanted a more updated but traditional feel we would recommend a deep blue.

Norton tap

A tap is probably the last of your worries when it comes to choosing a bathroom as they are the easiest to swap out in years to come when you may want to have a little change or switch up. To keep your pricing low, we would recommend opting for something like our Norton tap.

Acres towel warmer

Although the acres towel warmer, and radiator might be a little more expensive than your classic towel warmer these are truly a classic design that scream luxury and will never date. Sometimes when designing a bathroom is about choosing what you believe it better to invest in and what you’re happy to spend less on. We would say one is worth the price.

Wolds Bath

Again, you don’t need to spend a small fortune to get a good quality bath. As long as a bath is installed correctly with all the correct support almost any acrylic bath would work. We have opted for our Wolds bath as this bath has a high-water capacity, comes with 10 year manufacturers guarantee and available in super cast should you want the peace of mind of having an extra reinforced bath. Adding to this the Wolds bath certainly looks the part and is in keeping with what we are looking or by being simple and classic.

Hawthorne Cool-Touch Thermostatic Mixer Shower w/Riser & Overhead Kit

Just like you tap your shower is super easy to swap out when you opt for a classic bar shower as most of them have 150 centres. In hard water areas you’ll always find that a shower will get a build up of limescale, a chrome finish does tend to show limescale less.

Gia Round Plain Mirror

Any mirror can be a great way to make a room feel bigger and lighter. A round mirror not as harsh in comparison to a rectangular. It’s something that although doesn’t cost a lot is slightly more elevated than standard mirrors most people opt for.

Classic Wood Flooring
Flooring can be a hard choice for a bathroom. You want something practical (easy to clean) warmer on your feet but also to last long term. A lot of people opt for tiles, although yes in theory tiles will work well in a bathroom, grout line are an issue I think we can all agree drives us mad! Tiles are also known to be cold on your feet should you not have underfloor heating. We would recommend something like an LVT flooring, these often come in wood planks and square tiles formats. A wood look flooring will rarely date and will work in almost any bathroom. A wood look flooring also tends to warm up a room or give added depth and texture.
Tile selection
A basic neutral or even white tiles will forever be the most popular choice, rightfully so as it means we have the creative freedom to add character in other less expensive ways such as paint or accessories. I would recommend having your tiles full height to the wet area and midway(dado) to the remainder as we are seeing a swift away from full height tiling. This also leaves you space to use paint to add your stamp. Larger tiles mean less grout lines, which is always a positive. However small traditional subway tiles are also a long-standing favourite and seem to have kept in trend if done correctly for many years. If smaller metro tiles are what you’re thinking about heading then I recommend not using a high contrast grout, this is current trend that will eventually date. I would opt for a grout colour that similar to the tile colour. Alternatively you don’t have to opt for tiles throughout your bathroom. Having tiles to your shower area only and then classic ship-lap panelling will forever stay timeless and will also be easy to touch up or change colour.
Clutter Free
There is a huge difference between clutter and maximalism. It has been seen that clutter can cause stress and an uncomfortable feeling in a most people. Ensuring everything in your bathroom has a space is a sure way and making sure your bathroom is your sanctuary or even spa like.
Paint
As we have previously touched on having a space to paint is an easy way to spruce up your bathroom, a neutral colour will always stay timeless. A bright white will tarnish and date, we would recommend a warmer off white if you wanted to still keep your bathroom light but other earthy colours such as green and blue are also seen as timeless. Secondary Lighting:
Lighting is one of the most important factors in your bathroom. Offering a secondary lighting (any other lighting separate to your ceiling or spot lights) option in your bathroom add character and atmosphere. For example, a back-lit bathroom mirror or wall lights. Secondary lighting gives yourself and guests the option to use a slightly simmer light, often not as harsh on the eyes and often makes your room feel homelier. Take a look at our other post on trends to see examples of lighting options.
