When renovating your bathroom people often get swept up with the latest bathroom trends. These are often bold decisions that come with a high cost that people tend grow tired of a few years later.
Not Enough Storage in The Name of Minimalism

It is becoming more common that in bathroom design people are overlooking the amount of bathroom storage they really need. Contemporary bathrooms tend to be very sleek and minimal. People prioritising having as much space as possible, meaning they often don’t have enough storage. Overtime as you settle into your bathroom or even as your family grows you find that you’re stuck on where to put your everyday essentials.
Shower Space

In a bathroom renovation people often want as much out of their bathroom as possible meaning they try and fit as much in as possible, not wanting to miss out on any key features. For example, people opt for having both a separate shower and bath even if it means they are smaller in size. We find that over time people start to feel like these are too cramped and wish they had opted for one or the other. We’ve always recommend a well-designed bath/shower combo when trying to decide between the two. This is the perfect example of a slightly overcrowded bathroom.
Improper Ventilation

Ensuring you have good ventilation is key to reduce moisture build up and mould. Mould can cause damage to walls, ceilings, furniture and fixtures. It can also have a negative impact on your health. Mould and damp conditions are a trigger for people living with lung diseases.
We find that people overlook the practical aspects of bathroom renovation, ensuring your electrician can fit a bathroom grade extractor fan will help prevent mould. These can be both ceiling or wall mounted and are much sleeker in design in recent years. We would opt for one that can be integrated /built in with the wall tiles.
Over Tiling

It’s easy to get swept up in the thousands of tile choices for your bathroom, often tiling every inch in dreamy tiles. However, with this it is common that people either get bored of their tile choice overtime or the bold tile they have chosen simply dates with time. Try opting for tiles in your wet area only and then look at different paint colours or panelling for the remaining walls, something that is easier to change. This is also great for people who change tend to change their minds often or want to keep up with trends as paint and panelling are much easier to change than ripping off tiles.
Design Over practicality

Similar to the over tiling it is easy to get swept up making sure you have the most aesthetically pleasing bathroom. Sometimes we find that people take design over the practicality, for example, only a large spacious shower may look sleek and modern but may not be practical if you have younger kids. You can still have a practical and stylish bathroom!
Trims & Grout

When designing a bathroom, we tend to take our time when choosing a tiles & furniture but do not often think of grout or tile trims. More often than not your tiler will choose for you, leaving you with builder grade trims that don’t always suit the rest of your style. In our opinion trims are designed to be an extension of your tile therefore trims should be a closest match in colour as possible, to blend in seamlessly. Although we would also recommend the same for your grout choice there are certain circumstances a contrast grout can work best to achieve the style you desire.
