A Modern Bathroom

A modern bathroom mostly consists of clean lines, minimalistic features, and neutral colours with plenty of space. It focuses more of functionality/practicality over aesthetic. It can often incorporate innovative fixtures & less is usually more. This style would suit you if you’re looking for a sleek and clutter-free environment. This style is often seen as ‘spa like’.

Colours:

Embrace neutral colour palettes with pops of bold features.

Keeping all your colours neutral and plain is the most popular with this style choice. However, we also find that adding a contrast also works well for those who want to put their own stamp on it.

For example, having a large stone textured white tiles around your bathroom but having a different colour within your shower area. This doesn’t have to be anything bright, merely just a contrast. You can stick with larger tiles but maybe go for a deeper darker grey.

Alternatively, you can have bold features instead of tiles or paint. You may opt for large white tiles around your bathroom with matt black metals to create the feature you desire.  Furthermore, incorporating pops of wood in your bathrooms has the same effect whilst keeping it sleek.

Textures & Shapes:

We know the use of clean straight lines is key for this aesthetic, therefore staying in keeping with the clean-cut look we desire the less grout lines you have the better. Meaning the larger tiles are a favourable choice, adding to this to keep it minimalistic opt for a grout colour that matches the tiles as best as possible as this will ensure for a more seamless finish.

Further to what we have already mentioned above, should you want a more subtle contrast geometric shapes can also work in your favour. You can achieve this with your mirrors or even tiles. It is common for plain tiles to also have a matching décor tile (the same colour) but will have different textures on them frequently using geomatic patterns.

Practicality:

Although all the above is very important to when designing a modern bathroom ultimately the most vital aspect is functionality/practicality. For instance, ensuring you have plenty of storage to maintain and uncluttered look. Having a shower niche to avoid bottles sitting at the bottom of your shower or even glass bottles mounted on the wall for the ultimate spa feeling.

Also consider a wall-mounted vanity for a floating effect as this will make you room feel like it has more space.

Keeping in theme, opting for a concealed shower to hide pipework is ideal.

Lighting:

Lighting is key! Although we say this time and time again it is still more often than not overlooked. Although we want a cleaner/minimal finish on this style we don’t want it to feel clinical. To create the spa-like feel opt for lighting that gives more of a glow, such as installing under-cabinet lighting in warm white not bright white.
